| Brunei JENESYS contingent joins HR programme - Thursday, January 21, 2010 at 12:36 |
| By DANIAL NORJIDI Jan 19th, 2010 The Brunei contingent for the Japan-East Asia Network of Exchange for Students and Youths (JENESYS) Programme set off for Japan yesterday. The trip is part of the Invitation Programme for Human Resources Development in BIMP-EAGA (Brunei-Indonesia-Malaysia-Philippines East Asean Growth Area) under the JENESYS Programme. Present to send them off yesterday at the Brunei International Airport was Pg Hj Mohd Isma Hisham Pg Hj Othman, the Acting Head of SME Development and Deputy Head of Natural Resources Development of the BIMP-EAGA Business Council. The Brunei contingent includes six participants from various agencies including BIMP-EAGA. According to the programme outline, the importance of investing in the youths has repeatedly been acknowledged not only by the Asean Member Countries, but also by the Asean dialogue partners. “They have thus identified human resource development, people-to-people exchange and narrowing the development gaps to be important cooperation areas, which can be realised by channelling the efforts into the younger generation,” the outline states. The outline also mentions BIMP-EAGA, saying: “The government of Japan has supported the initiative of BIMP-EAGA because of its usefulness for promoting the Asean integration. “The vision of BIMP-EAGA is the realisation of socially acceptable and sustainable economic development, which leads to the full participation of EAGA in the Asean development process.” The invitation programme was designed on the recognition that BIMP-EAGA needs strong public-private sector partnership in development, while the growth of the sub-region must be “market-driven and private sector-led”.
